Get your AncestryDNA code
Go to ancestry.com/dna/insights/ while signed in. Copy the code at the end of the URL after
/dna/insights/.
Optional â only needed to generate the year links below.
2
Open each year's chromosome JSON
Choose a year, open the generated Ancestry page, select all of the JSON, and copy it. You can compare any two or more years.
Note: these links use an undocumented Ancestry endpoint and may stop working if Ancestry changes it. You must be signed in to Ancestry and have access to that DNA test.
3
Paste each year's JSON
Paste the entire response. The parser accepts the wrapped
{"item":{"chromosomeData":"..."}} form as well as direct parent1/parent2 chromosome data.
Paste at least two years.

Advanced: edit region-name overrides
The master dictionary is used for every region code. Historical overrides contain only names that differed in a particular year; an empty or short year does NOT mean that year is unsupported. Unknown codes still render using their raw code. Format: JSON object keyed by year, then region code.
How this works: 2022 uses its complete prefixed historical dictionary; 2023 uses the full broad-region dictionary from DNPlay's older source; 2024â2026 use the master dictionary plus year-specific renames. The site also refreshes the current full 5-digit dictionary automatically when online. If a future or unknown code appears, the chromosome still renders and the raw code is shown.
